Face It and Change It
The truth hurts…and I’m trying to keep this website as positive as possible so as not to turn people off, but what is happening with animals in our country is outrageous and very painful… and hard to stomach, but the good thing is that we are going to change it… We, together, will Face It and Change It…
Puppy and Cat Mills, Stray Animals, Factory Farm Animals, and Animal Experimentation Labs
“They are born into cruelty, they live their entire lives in cruelty, and they die in cruelty… and even though some people turn a
a blind eye to their suffering, many more of us humans will not, and join together to end it…” — Charlie Currin, June 2018
The Real Facts
Homeless Animals
Right now, there are about 70 million stray animals living in the US trying to survive on their own against unbelievably cruel odds. Of these 70 million, only about 6 to 8 million cats and dogs enter the nation’s 3,500 shelters every year, according to the Humane Society, and a large number of these are euthanized…

Homeless Animals
Each year, approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized (670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats) because they have nowhere to go… Overall, hundreds of dogs and cats are killed EVERY HOUR in our country because of non-existing laws and regulations of puppy mills, home breeders, lack of spay and neuter, etc…

Feral Cats
The often-ignored plight of feral cats in our country is disheartening… Scientists and feline experts now estimate between 60 and 160 million feral cats live in the United States, the consequence of little effort to control the population and of the cat’s ability to reproduce quickly. Please note this number is not even included in the Homeless Animals box.

Factory Farming
More than 9 billion (9,000,000,000) farm animals were slaughtered in the United States last year… Approximately 25 million (25,000,000) farm animals are slaughtered EACH DAY in our country… Heartbreaking outrageous statistics because of the horrific way most are treated… from birth to death… so we can eat them…
It is a hudden secret we humans must change. We can no longer turn a blind eye to their horrendous suffering.

(A world study from www.worldanimalnews.org reports “Horrifically, an estimated 70 billion farm animals are slaughtered each year for human consumption globally. This staggering number equates to over 191 million animals per day, almost 8 million per hour or 2,200 animals per second…”)
Experimentation and Testing
Each year, more than 100 million animals—including mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds—are tortured and killed in US laboratories for biology lessons, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics testing. (Source: peta.org) Shameful… as many experts say this horrific form of animal use is no longer needed with modern technology

It is no wonder the United States ranks 49th out of 50 countries in the “Worst Farm Animal Cruelty Index” as having abysmal treatment of its animals… and SHAME ON US… But we Americans will change this… I know we can change this… IT IS OUR DUTY TO CHANGE THIS… The best 3 countries for treating animals humanely are Austria, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, and I have studied in depth what they did to do this… and we can move our ranking from 49th to 1st with what I have learned… We will systematically do what it takes to make our beloved country the best in the world for animal treatment…

Despite these outrageous statistics, there is so much good going on in our country with amazing rescue and shelter organizations full of kind, hardworking human beings… and they are all to be commended for their tireless work bringing so much comfort to countless animals…
Spay and Neuter
We must work to get every dog and cat spayed and neutered… We will work and negotiate cost procedures to get this done across the nation. The cost of neutering a dog at the Humane Society or a low-cost clinic can range from $45 to $135, depending on the weight of the animal. The cost of spaying, a more complicated surgery, usually ranges from about $50 to $175.
Our Feline Friends
Stray cats are socialized to people and can be adopted into homes, but feral cats are not socialized to humans and live outdoors.

Spay and Neuter Terms
In neutering, the veterinarian makes an incision in front of the scrotum, removes both testicles, then stitches the incision. In spaying, the veterinarian makes an incision in the abdominal wall, removes the uterus and ovaries, then stitches the incision.
